This is Rachel and Emma’s second webisodic creation. Their first, At Your Feet, was about two young women who work at a shoe shine stand downtown.
Having moved home after a break up, Rachel’s Mum encourages her to try online dating. Rachel agrees but only if her single mother tries it as well and so the series begins. Not your average mother-daughter relationship, Rachel and her Mum aren’t just family their friends, get to know them and hear their opinions on men, dating, sex and life.
Rachel is an actor who lives and works between Vancouver and Toronto. She started working in TV and film in her teens, went to England for her training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and has since worked in theatres and productions across the country. As with At Your Feet, inspired by her real life experiences as a shoe shiner, Rachel’s inspiration for this series was heartbreak and IRL online dating dilemmas. Though she would like to state that the mother appearing in this work is fictitious. Any resemblance to her own mother are purely coincidental... (my Mum made me write that).
Barbara Pollard is an award winning actor who works equally in film and on stage, with a history of travelling the world in her own writing. She is one of the Co-authors of Moms the Word, an international hit comedy that she has personally taken to London’s West End, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New York and Chicago; with appearances in International Comedy Festivals in Melbourne and Montreal (Just for Laughs). She has an extensive classical resume from both the Stratford Festival and Bard on the Beach. And in the last year, on television as a lead in two Made for TV movies for Hallmark. Barbara is the proud mother of two amazing people.
Emma is a film maker based in Vancouver. Since studying literature and film at the University of East Anglia in the UK, she has worked in both Canada and the US as a director and editor for music videos, theatre companies and corporate clients. Some favourite credits include her collaboration with American musician Nick Waterhouse, directing music videos and accompanying him in studio and on tour for his second album, Holly. Emma’s photography from this tour can be seen in publications including Rolling Stone Magazine. Along with being a gun for hire, she is passionate about the creation of work and is so excited to share Mum and Me (and everyone online), Cairns&Pollard’s second creation after directing and editing their inaugural project At Your Feet.
